Well, there are a variety of updates on things I've mentioned earlier. We now have pop-tarts. Several varieties. And Connor loves them. He ate at least three this afternoon before I realised what he was doing and made him stop. ::grin:: So, I suppose the obsession is not likely to fade anytime soon. (He was obsessed with Extreme Pudding Sticks for a while until he actually tried one and wasn't impressed). But he actually likes the pop-tarts. Oh well. I suppose there are worse things he could like . . . like, erm . . . coke-a-cola. Yeah, that would be worse. Or just eating spoonfuls of sugar. Yeah. That would be really bad. Pop-tarts are downright healthy by comparison. ::facepalms::
The duvet cover is very nearly finished! All I have left to do is hem the one unfinished edge, and install the snaps. Whoo HOO! It looks great on the bed . . . and (fairly important) the duvet actually fits inside it and lays properly! ::grin:: (I was a bit concerned because the queen sheet I used as a backing was just a wee bit smaller than the duvet, and then you have to take into account the seams . . . but it turned out just fine). It's so purty, in fact, that I took PICTURES! ::grin::
The colours in the photo are actually pretty close to the way they really look (at least they look right on my monitor, although the dark purple is a bit warmer than it appears in the photo), especially the ones in the foreground of the picture (at the back, some of the colours are distorted).
And here is a close up of the fabby brocade dragon. There are also phoenixes (sp?) on some of the squares (In fact the one on the corner in the foreground of the photo is a phoenix):
And, for the heck of it, here's my pretty new lamp, which I searched all over town to find (I couldn't believe how hard it was to find a lamp I liked. And I didn't really *love* this one when I bought it, but now I do, and it's perfect in my room):
The rest of the room is trashed right now (because I had to move furniture a bit to pull out my serger), but once I've got it all tidy again, maybe I'll post a picture of the "finished product." Although I still need to get new things up on the walls. Oh! Which reminds me . . . I've ordered something I think is really cool . . . this lithograph, which the artist is going to hand colour for me (with an emphasis on greens and purples so it will match my bedroom decor):
Here, there definitely Be Dragons. ::grin::
Although . . . I did have a bit of a moment today when I realised that I really don't *need* a duvet on the bed right now, because, erm, it's JULY and it's REALLY HOT. But hey! I'm flexible and oh-so-clever, and I figured out that I can just take the duvet *out* and use it as a bedspread until winter! ::is so impressed with own brilliance:: :P
Oh . . and here's PROOF of the pop-tart lurve! "Look, Mummy! I've had a LOT OF SUGAR today!" ::grin::
Since I had the camera out today, I took it along to swim lessons, as well . . .
Happy Connor with his instructor:
Kick, kick, kick!
In other news, I had a great chat on the telephone with gail_b (see! I do talk on the phone! I don't always let the machine answer and laugh! ::grin::) . . . we talked about PLANS FOR NEXT WEEK! WHOO HOO!!!!! Which now include trips to Haight-Ashbury *and* Venice Beach. We're going to try to hit the very grooviest spots. ::grin::
Oh - and Gail, you know that chicken and leek pie I cooked while I was on the phone with you? You know, as in, I actually *cooked* a proper meal??? Well, because we were on the phone, Kevin couldn't get through when he tried to call to see if I'd had anything planned for dinner, so he stopped and got KFC on the way home. Ack! Hee hee hee. But here's the really *really* cool thing . . .
When I asked Connor which he'd rather have - the chicken pie or KFC chicken - he chose THE PIE!!!!!!! ::grin:: Isn't he the coolest kid evah? I really expected him to ask for the take-away, instead of some stinky old homemade pie. But he wanted the pie! ::happy dance:: Okay, maybe I'm a bit lame for being so happy about this, but for some reason it really meant a lot to me that he chose the dinner I cooked over the KFC. I mean, this is a kid who *lives* for Burger King. He likes to eat out more than I do. (Well, maybe not, but it's close). And he asked for my chicken pie! ::still dancing::
Well, it's late now. And I think I'll go to bed and get started on The Reptile Room.
Oh, wait a sec. While I'm here, I might as well post these
Does this fit me? I honestly don't remember. It's been years and years since I saw that show. ::grin::
But I'm pretty sure this next one *doesn't* fit me . . . I consider myself to be fairly anti-social, after all. O_o Then again, I am sort of good about hooking people up (friends, not match-making) . . . so maybe I am a bit of a hub. (That sounds sort of . . . well, icky, doesn't it. To be sort of a hub) ::grin::.
