The Rules: guess as much as you can, including song title, artist, composer/lyricist, and the name of the opera or musical where applicable. Translations of lyrics in foreign languages would also be fun. This time, instead of crossing them off as they're guessed, I'm just going to leave it open for a couple of days, so everyone gets a chance to play. (Just don't cheat by peeking at the comments before leaving your answers ::grin::). I suspect that some of these are fairly obscure, so if there's anything that isn't guessed in a day or two, I'll post some hints.
So . . . have fun, and good luck!
Ya un amor sincero
De aquel amor
Tanto yo busque
Corre da ti
Ay yo soy sincero
Ay de este amor
Tanto yo busque
And the wind is crying, from a love that won't grow cold
My lover, she is lying, on the dark side of the globe
Suddenly I knew that you'd have to go
Your world was not mine, your eyes told me so
Yet it was there I felt the crossroads of time
And I wondered why.
On thy bosom let me rest.
More I would, but death invades me.
Death is now a welcome guest
Non trovo pace
notte né dì,
ma pur mi piace
She rings like a bell through the night
And wouldn’t you love to love her
She rules her life like a bird in flight
And who will be her lover?
Ich will euch wieder sehen, und euer Herz soll sich freuen,
Und eure Freude soll niemand von euch nehmen.
I was sixteen, he was twenty-one
Rode with us to Memphis
And papa woulda shot him if he knew what he'd done
Ah, se ritrovo l'empio
E a me non torna ancor,
Vo' farne orrendo scempio,
Gli vo' cavare il cor.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they're worth takin’
Lovin’ might be a mistake but it's worth makin’
She came to me with a serpents kiss,
As the eye of the sun rose on her lips.
Moonlight catches silver tears I cry.
So we lay in the black embrace,
And the seed is sown in a holy place.
And I watched her and I waited for the dawn.
Then, I was inspired.
Now, I'm sad and tired.
After all, I've tried for three, years; seems like ninety.
And though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.
I’m not a child anymore
I’m tall enough
To reach for the stars
I’m old enough
To love you from afar
Too trusting? Yes
But then women usually are
Ah! non m'avanza piu soccorso, piu speranza ne dal mondo, ne dal ciel!
Are you cut up or do you easily forget?
Are you still around, why haven't you managed to die yet?
You could prop up the bar in Hell.
But if you want me to beg
I'll fall down on my knees
And ask you to come back
I'd be pleading for you to come back
I'd beg for you to come back to me
18. (NOTE! I'm picky about the artist on this one)! :)
That’s all I am taking with me
Good-bye; please don’t cry
We both know that I’m not what you need
Have I doubt, baby, when I'm alone
Love is a ring on the telephone
Love is an angel, disguised as lust
Here in our bed 'til the morning comes
Ooh, it gets dark! it gets lonely,
On the other side from you.
I pine a lot. I find the lot
Falls through without you.
I’m coming back, love.
Ecce enim ex hoc beatam me dicent (omnes generationes)
I was lost till you were found
But I never know how far down
I was falling
Before I reached the bottom
I was cold and you were fire
And I never knew how the pyre
Could be burning
On the edge of the ice field
Just like an old time movie ’bout a ghost from a wishin’ well
In a castle dark or a fortress strong with chains upon my feet
You know that ghost is me
She handed me a heart shaped locket that said, "To thine own self be true."
And I shivered as I watched a roach crawl across the toe of my high heeled shoe.
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
