Today we participated in one of the traditional "American" passtimes - we went to a baseball game. Here is Connor, cheering for the Giants. Unfortunately for him, and all the other home-team fans, they lost. I was happy though, as I was rooting for the White Sox. It was an exciting game, though, and the score was close until quite near the end.
It was a fun day out. We took BART and Muni into San Francisco, and the weather was gorgeous (surprisingly, after the heatwave we had last week, I was chilly in the ballpark without a jacket. I'd forgotten about the wind in the City). Did you know that cotton candy comes in grape flavor now? (OMG yummy! Who knew)? I had a bit of a "WTF?" moment when they played "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch (when did that start?), but since they played "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" afterwards, I guess it was all good. (But seriously, don't ever mess with "Take Me Out to the Ballgame").
We both ate too much sugary food, cheered a lot, and got just a bit sun- and windburned, but it was a great day. I even got the chance to yell "SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN" at a drunken idiot (at least I assume he was being an idiot because he was drunk; it's possible he's like that all the time, though. And, since of course it's just not a "proper" sporting event if you don't get to yell at someone who's being an idiot, I was quite satisfied with the opportunity). ;)
Even though I don't really follow baseball all that much (hardly at all, in fact), it's a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon, every once in a while. And Connor had fun, which always makes me happy.
