Name two songs that MAKE you start dancing the second you hear the opening bars. The ones you cannot resist. The ones that, even if you are all alone, or in the car, or standing on line at the bank, exert an inexorable pull on your body to start fully swinging your ass, swaying your shoulders, and generally getting down all over, almost against your will. Put your two at the end of this list, and post the whole thing in your journal.
1. Canned Heat by Jamiroquai
2. Blame it on the Boogie - Jackson 5
3. Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum
4. Honky Tonk Women - The Rolling Stones
5. Vamos a Bailar - the Gipsy Kings
6. Push It - Salt-N-Pepa
Heh. And I must tell a funny story about "Push It," but it's rather lewd, so only click on the cut if you don't mind naughty words for female body parts . . .
At the time when "Push It" was first popular (back, oh, a while ago ;) ), I used to hang out at a couple of the gay clubs on Santa Monica Blvd. with friends. And whenever this song came on, there was just such an OBVIOUS lyric change . . . so, I am completely unable to listen to this song without thinking of the way we used to sing it . . . "Ah, Pussy. Pussy's good. Ah, Pussy. P-Pussy's REAL good."
Bwah! There's my blast-from-the-past for today! ;)
