Veni, Vidi, Vici!

Latin - YAY! :D

Princeps Senatus

You scored 85%!

Congratualtions! You have been voted to be the First Counselor of the Senate. Your eloquence with the Latin tongue is well-known, and you have been elevated to a position of authority within the Senate. You are always the first to speak at the Senate meetings (after the Emperor, of course) and are a very powerful ally (or enemy) to have. More than likely, you have the backing of some of the military, which could come in handy should you ever decide that being the Princeps Senatus is not enough for you...

LOL! Yeah, I saw your "Brutus" post. ;)

I wonder which ones I missed, too. Admittedly, there were only a few of which I was absolutely sure, but most of them seemed pretty easy to "guess." I do wish there was an answer key, though - so we could learn from our mistakes!

I've actually never formally studied Latin - I just love it because it's so key to the English language. But C and I are going to start studying it together one of these days. Probably at the start of 3rd grade (in other words, just about a year from now). I'd like him to have a good foundation in it from a young age.

Would you like the answers?

Yes, please!

That's right - you got a perfect score on this, didn't you? (One of only two perfect scores I've seen among my friends). *does the "we are not worthy" dance*

I was just guessing from knowing Spanish. The problem is I definitely don't know the "conjugations" of verbs, so I probably guessed the wrong tenses or word orders.

Yeah, I guessed almost all of them on the basis of vocabulary alone - I don't know any Latin grammar. Yet. C and I are going to learn it though. After we do some French. :D

I think that is such a good idea. I had to wait until college and my medieval lit stuff to learn Latin. I always have wished I started early. Man, C is gonna be one smart kid. Seriously.

Hail Caesar!
I missed 5, apparently. :) 75% Watch your back! Seems I'm a mere Senator and that's not enough for my ambition. LOL

This is cool, even thought I'm not as smart...but we knew that. ;)
Patrician

You, my friend, are living large at the top of the Roman citizen list. Your Latin skills are not at all bad, and you have found your way into the elite of Roman living. You are living a comfortable lifestyle in your nice home, though you have little power in Roman society. Occasionally your voice is heard among those with power, but without furthur study, you words won't have much weight in the grand scheme of things. Who cares? You're living in style!

LOL! Once again, you must be the "cute" one. ;)

I think most of the Latin I've picked up was from a) all that dictionary looking-up Daddy made me do when we were kids (you learn a lot of Latin roots that way). Didn't he send you to the dictionary? Or did you rebel and decide just not to bother? And b) I was interested to notice how much I've picked up from singing various things in Latin. Pretty cool.

Look on the bright side - as a Patrician, you've got a comfortable life, but not a high-profile one. For me, being in that government? Oh, someone will bump me off before you can say "Bob's your uncle." (Heh, I wonder what that would be in Latin). :D

Yep, I opted not to look in the dictionary and just blame them for my ignorance instead. :D So lazy!

Any Latin I know now is also from singing it and looking up derivations of words in the dictionary in more recent years. It is a fantastic language and I love to sing it especially. :)

Quispiam mos trucido me pro vos san narro "Robertus est vestri immunda"

LOL. But don't quote me on that!
