Here’s a list of some of the books I’m planning to read (since joyliveshere asked if had one, and it seemed like a good idea):

Phantom of the Opera
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
The Scarlett Pimpernell
Northanger Abbey
Jane Eyre
Oliver Twist
Portrait of a Lady
Around the World in 80 Days

Obviously, I need to add more, and I might end up taking some of these off, but this should be plenty to get me started.

I don't know how much Austen you've read, but Northanger Abbey isn't the one I'd start with if you're going for the best. I'd recommend Pride & Prejudice, Persuasion, and Emma above it.

On the other hand, it's pretty short. ;-)

I've read P&P, S&S and Persuasion. And one other . . . the one about the girl who goes to live with relatives and they put on dramas . . . um . . . Mansfield Park! That's it. I haven't read Emma yet, though, and your comment has reminded me that I do have it around here somewhere. Maybe I will read that one first. (Although NA being short IS a plus). :D I like Jane Austen quite a bit, actually, and I'm not that far from reading all of her work. Maybe I'll make that a supplemental goal this year.
