California Dragons

I'm playing fantasy football this season. It's not something that would have occurred to me on my own, but a bunch of people from Kevin's work were putting together a league, and they had a spot, so I took it. I've played before, but it's been more than a decade (although last time I played, I won the championship, so YAY me :D). My team name? The California Dragons. (Why California? Someone already named their team for Conshohocken, so I went with my "hometown" but I hate Los Angeles, so I went for the entire state).

We had our draft tonight, and I lucked into the first pick, so I got the best guy in the draft! (No idea who he is; I haven't watched enough football the past few years, but I'm still excited). Not sure how good my team is; Kevin helped me with some of the picks, and some I picked just because I like the teams (or, as in the case of the Jaguars special teams/defense, I picked the best-rated available team with a cool animal name; I'd wanted the Ravens, but someone else picked them first. Wah). So, a totally scientific approach to drafting a team! :D Should be fun; I've enjoyed playing in the past.

Here's my team, for the (American) football fans on my f-list:

Drew Brees, NO
Alex Smith, SF
Brett Favre, GB

LaDainian Tomlinson, SD (Whoo hoo! Best guy in the draft)!
Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac
Chester Taylor, Min
Fred Taylor, Jac
Michael Turner, SD

Lee Evans, Buf
Plaxico Burress, NYG
Vernon Davis, SF
Bernard Berrian, Chi
Derrick Mason, Bal
Joe Jurevicius, Cle

Jaguars D/ST, Jac

Robbie Gould, Chi

I'll probably trade some of these guys sooner or later (Favre, for example, I drafted solely to be able to trade. Unless he starts out the season really well, in which case I'll keep him. Well, and I remember when he started out in the league, so he's kind of a sentimental pick). I have a couple of Bears, and I've always liked the 49ers, so I chose a few of them, too, even when they weren't the highest-rated available pics. So, we'll see how this goes. You might be able to view my team/league here:

(Not sure, though, if that's a public link or not).
