Just out of curiosity . . .

Just out of curiosity . . . how many of you have seen a news report about this:

Megan Williams tortured and raped by six people for at least a week

It happened several weeks ago, and the first I heard about it was today, on Facebook (of all places). Is it really not getting media coverage? Or did I just miss it somehow. In any case, it's disgusting and heartbreaking and infuriating and . . . well, just read it, if you hadn't already heard, okay? I do not want to live in a world that allows things like this to happen. Of course, it's just one small example of the myriad horrible things people do to one another in this world. Yeah, I know there are wars going on right now, too. Somehow, it needs to change. I wish I had an answer as to how to do that, but right now, I just feel like crying. Also, I must admit to being a bit curious as to why the media thinks OJ Simpson and Michael Vicks are more newsworthy.

I read about it right after they recovered her, I think, on MSN. Horrible. :\ I haven't heard a lot of ongoing coverage, though, other than the "should we seek hate crime charges" debate. (I actually heard that the reason they weren't going to at first was that they could seek stricter sentencing outside of it, which says a lot about what's considered a hate crime in this country, but that's another rant...)
