First Lines Music Meme

Seen recently in the journal of desertbell; I'm posting the first line of the first 20* songs in iTunes (with shuffle turned on), and you get to try and guess which songs they are! This sounds like a lot more fun right now than writing a real entry, so here you go:

1. "Momma, hey Momma, come lookin' for me."

2. "I have a heart that's proud you bet; I have a mind that won't forget."

3. "Without going out of my door, I can know all things on earth."

4. "You had plans all along; musta seen me coming down a mile above the ground."

5. "Let me win roses to twine in your hair, a scepter to place in your hand."

6. "Boy, you're gonna carry that weight, carry that weight a long time."

7. "Know no fear, I'll still be here tomorrow."

8. "Lord make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred let me sow love."

9. "I'm drunk. And right now I'm so in love with you."

10. "Your love's contagious, one kiss is dangerous, but I have more to risk, than you to lose."

11. "Girl, it's been a long time that weve been apart, much too long for a man who needs love."

12. "You know how us Catholic girls can be."

13. "(Wanna hear it?) What's the crime, man, caught in space, nothing and everything is."

14. "Desperado, why don't you come to your senses?"

15. "Think of me, think of me fondly when we've said goodbye."

16. "I ain't goin' to school, it starts too early for me."

17. "It burns deep down inside of me, we have ourselves to blame."

18. "They passed me by, all of those great romances, because of your robbing me of my rightful chances."

19. "I don't care if you wont talk to me; you know Im not that kind of girl."

20. "Silent woman in the night, you came, took my seed from my shaking frame."

There they are; good luck! :) Some are really easy, but some of them are probably nigh-on unguessable. There are a few though, that some of you had *better* guess. (syrinxkat, there is at least one, and maybe *two* that you might be the only one who can guess). In any case, have at it! :) Oh, and comments are screened for now, until I post the results in a few days. The one with the most correct guesses gets . . . *drumroll please* . . . a pretend cookie! YAY! :D

* Not really the first 20. I skipped loads of tracks, including audiobook tracks, instrumental music, and choral music where the first line of lyrics *is* the title. Also, I skipped a bunch of bird calls, and a few very obscure world music things in foreign languages. Yeah, I have a lot of weird shit in my iTunes. :D

6.) "Carry That Weight"--the Beatles (if it's called something else, I don't know what it is).

14.) "Desperado"--Don Henley and/or the Eagles. I think he was solo then, though.

Okay, I'll bite.
I'm not going to cheat and look up the ones I don't know. See how honest I am? :)

6. "Carry That Weight" (Beatles)
8. "Prayer of St. Francis" (we sing this in church, not that I go very often)
12. Don't know this one, but it sounds interesting! LOL
14. "Desperado" (originally Eagles, also recorded by Clint Black)

Damn. Didn't do too well, did I? LOL

03. "Inner Light", Beatles
08. "Prayer of St. Francis", Sarah McLachlan
11. "No One Like You", Scorpions
12. "Forgiven", Alanis Morissette
13. "Another World", Poe
14. "Desperado", Eagles
15. "Think of Me", Phantom of the Opera
17. "Prophets of War", Dream Theater
18. "One of Us", ABBA

Second half was nice to me. First, not so. #20 sounds really familiar, but I haven't a clue. A little shaky on #3, but I think the lyrics fit with the title--unless I'm imagining the sitar from a completely different song (i.e., "Norwegian Wood") and fitting it to the Tao Te Ching, which would be a nice trick.

Re: Answers...
Congrats! You are the WINNER! By quite a large margin, too. All nine of your guesses were correct, so you get a really big and yummy pretend cookie! :)
