Juggling

Today, I picked up the juggling book I have here, hoping that I could teach myself to juggle four balls. I had the patience to try for about . . . one minute. Surprisingly, no success.

Bwahahahahahahah!

Okay, so four is going to be more challenging than I thought. I need to get more agile with my left hand (and, probably, with my right hand as well, come to think of it). So, I need to go back and practice a couple of more basic techniques.

I did learn how to do an overhand grab while juggling three balls, though, so that feels like some progress, anyway. :D

It's hard... I can barely do it (last I tried) -- the best way is to practice your columns (2 in one hand) obsessively. Then columns with your other hand mimicking the same motion. Finally, get both doing columns at the same time, and you're juggling four!

You can work on alternating the throws after that.

Yeah, that's the thing I'm having trouble with. I never really learned how to do columns with either hand. I can do them reasonably well (depending on your definition of "reasonably well," which in my case means I might keep it going for ten seconds :D) with my right hand, but not at all with my left. Somehow, I managed to learn to juggle three without ever knowing to do this (I just taught myself, so probably skipped some techniques along the way, or something). Urgh.

I'll work on it, though. I just sort of figured there would be some easy way to sneak in that extra ball . . . apparently not. :P
