Project 365, Day 52 - Galaxy

Blue & Purple, originally uploaded by Here Be Dragons.

More high-speed photography, water with food coloring. I love the colors in this shot, although I'm having trouble getting an entire crown in focus. I seem to have reached a plateau with my current techniques; I'm thinking a bigger/second flash unit would help me get to the next level.

Even though this shot isn't perfect, I still like it a lot. The colors make me think of deep space.

That looks like some pics I've made up while tinkering with Adobe PhotoShop filters.

What did you start with in PhotoShop? Or were you just playing with filters on a blank document? (I've done that a couple of times, but never got any results that I thought were worthwhile. Occasionally I've done some cool things with filters and photos, but still, nothing amazing). I'd love to see some of your stuff, if you've got it saved.

I think I've just used random pictures I had. I don't think I have them anymore. Or actually they might be on the harddrive of my ancient computer I replaced a year or two ago. The look you have to this picture that makes it look nebulous can be done really with a filter on our PS which I think is just called "clouds." The water filter is a little harder because you have to pick the right picture with a color that can make it look like the picture originally did contain water. But that filter does add ripples of user-chosen frequency and size.

Wah! I want a full version of PS (I only have PS Elements. Which, really, does everything I need it to do on a regular basis, but I wouldn't mind having more filters to play around with). :D

The one we had was actually an ancient pirated copy S got from a college roomie. That's how old it was. lol Anyway, we would never have forked over the money for the real deal. He used it to tinker around when he used to make person userpics with our online names way back in the day of the early Intertubes, but he doesn't do any of that creative stuff anymore.

STOP BEING SO TALENTED. You're giving my inferiority complex an inferiority complex.
